First ramblings

Since I really can't think about anything else to talk about, I'm just going to talk about something I don't really understand: the Israel/Gaza conflict.

I understand that Jewish people want a state that they can feel safe in and whatnot. I think that's perfectly reasonable. I also know that when Israel was established, they kicked out the non-Jewish population. These people were unfairly displaced and stolen from.

The two things I do not understand are: Why can't Israelis and Palestinians just tolerate each other and live in peace, and why is there so much blame shifting going on?

Sure Jewish people deserve their own nation, but why can't they just get over the single religion thing and live in peace with the Palestinians? Just because the Jews should be able to live there doesn't mean that they have to kick out the innocent people that have actually occupied that territory for decades! Plus it's definitely NOT ok that they are firing rockets in to Gaza.

The next item that my mind is failing to understand is the blame shift. Yes, Israel has been firing on Gaza. But haven't they been fighting back? I recently viewed an Israel-sympathetic video, saying that all Israel wants is peace. That, "If Israel put down it's weapons, there would be genocide and the eradication of the Jewish population there. But If Gaza put down their weapons, there would be peace".

But what about the people being killed in Gaza? I also saw similar statement on a post saying, "If Israel put down it's weapons, there would be peace".

     It's very confusing.

Of course, the terrorist group holding Palestinians hostage, also known as Hamas, isn't making things much better.

Personally, I think Hamas needs to be taken out first.
